(WASHINGTON, DC)  The Metropolitan Police Department will kick off Chief Cathy L. Lanier's Summer Crime Initiative in an effort to stem the rise of violence and crime that typically occurs with the warmer weather. Chief Lanier, who will be joined by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty at the announcement, will provide a review of crime statistics from prior summers and an overview of outstanding warrants, most violent predators, and highlights of the strategies being employed by the Department.
