Today, Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier implemented the department’s Summer Crime Initiative.  Sworn members of the department will be working twelve hour tours of duty from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  This initiative is a proactive tactic being utilized in the department’s efforts to combat any possible spike in certain crimes that occur during the summer months.  Various operations being conducted will include safety compliance checkpoints, increased patrols, undercover operations, community activities, etc.
