Light Up the Night

This is to advise the news media that Ann Harkins, the Vice President of the National Crime Prevention Council and McGruff the Crime Dog will hand out award to the winners of the Fifth District Summer of Safety “Youth-4-Success” Camp poster contest.

As part of their summer activities, children at the camp entered a poster contest to illustrate how to keep their neighborhoods safe by such means as using outside porch lights. Two winners will be selected from three groups of contestants. Group I First and Second Grades, Group II Third and Fourth Grades and Group III Fifth and Sixth Grades. Winners of the poster contest will receive saving bonds presented by the Light Up the Night Coalition, which is composed of 18 community organizations.

Winning poster designs will be presented to Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier or her representative, Assistant Chief of Police Brian Jordan, Commander Jennifer Greene, Ward Five Council Member Harry Thomas, Jr., School Chancellor Michelle Rhee or her representative and ANC Commissioner Kris Hammond.
