Traffic Advisory for Bike DC Neighborhood Ride

The Bike DC Neighborhood ride will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008.  To facilitate this event, vehicular traffic restrictions must be imposed on all the noted streets downtown, Washington, DC between the hours of 7:00 am and 12:00 pm on the day of the race. Most intersections will be open to motorist to cross only, when bikers are not present.

People assisting with the Greek Festival will be allowed to cross through Wisconsin Avenue, NW and Garfield Street, NW. In addition, people assisting with The Cathedral Home Coming will be allowed to cross through Wisconsin Avenue, NW and Massachusetts Avenue, NW. To avoid delays, motorists should avoid the route of the race and streets that intersect.

The participants will ride their bikes as follows:

  • The participants will start on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.and 13th Street, NW.
  • then, the participants will take Pennsylvania Avenue, NW westbound;
  • turn right on 15th Street, NW northbound;
  • left on H Street, NW westbound;
  • right on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW northwest bound;
  • right on 20th  Street, NW northbound;
  • left on Massachusetts Avenue, NW northwest bound;
  • right on 30th Street, NW northbound;  
  • left on Normanstone, NW northwest bound;
  • straight on Fulton Street, NW westbound;
  • right on 34th Street, NW northbound;
  • right on Klingle Road, NW eastbound;
  • left on Woodley Road, NW northwest bound;
  • left on 34th Street, NW southbound;
  • left on Massachusetts  Avenue, NW southeast bound;
  • right on 21st Street, NW southbound;
  • left on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW southeast bound;
  • right on 15th Street, NW southbound;
  • left on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW southeast bound;
  • left on Constitution Avenue, NW eastbound;
  • left on Louisiana Avenue, NW northeast bound;
  • right on Columbus Circle, NE eastbound;
  • right on Massachusetts Avenue, NE southeast bound;
  • right on 3rd Street, NE southbound;
  • left on Constitution Avenue, NE eastbound;
  • right into RFK Stadium parking lot on East Capitol Street;
  • NE eastbound, right on 22nd Street, NE/SE;
  • left into RFK Stadium parking lot;
  • exit parking lot on Water Street, SE;
  • u-turn from Water Street, SE to Anacostia River Trail at Barney Circle Anacostia River Trail northbound;
  • enter the RFK Stadium parking lot;
  • exit the RFK Stadium parking lot at 22nd Street, NE near C Street, NW northbound;
  • left on 21st Street, NE;
  • right on Constitution Avenue, NE westbound;
  • right on 3rd Street, NE north bound;
  • left on Massachusetts Avenue, NE northwest bound;
  • left on Louisiana Avenue, NE southwest bound;
  • right on Constitution Avenue, NW westbound;
  • right again on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW westbound, before heading back to the finish line on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th Street, NW.     

The Metropolitan Police Department always advises drivers to pay attention when operating any motor vehicle.  Motorists are also urged to exercise caution when traveling in the area of any special events due to potential heavy pedestrian traffic. Unexpected changes are always possible in such closures based upon unanticipated or prevailing conditions.
