The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public and members of the media of the following street closings in conjunction with the Year of the Ox Chinese New Year Parade.  

DATE:                        Sunday, February 1, 2009

TIME:                         2:00 pm

LOCATION:              I Street, NW; Between 5^th and 6^th Streets, NW

ROUTE:                     The parade will form in the 500 block of I Street, NW, and will proceed westbound on I

Street, NW to 7^th Street, NW, southbound on 7^th Street, NW to H Street, NW, westbound on H Street, NW, to

8^th Street, NW, southbound on 8^th Street, NW to G Street, NW, eastbound on G Street, NW to 7^th Street, NW,

northbound on 7^th Street, NW to H Street, NW and proceed eastbound on H Street, NW where the parade will

disband in the 600 block of H Street, NW.

No vehicles will be allowed to park on the parade route commencing at 7:00 am, on

Sunday, February 1, 2009.

Street closures will begin at 9:00 am on Sunday, February 1, 2009.

•  H Street, NW, between 6^th and 7^th Streets, NW (9:00 am until 5:00 pm)
•  I Street, NW, between 5^th and 6^th Streets, NW (9:00 am until 3:30 pm)
•   I Street, NW, between 5^th and 7^th Streets, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
•   7^th Street, NW, between I and G Streets, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
•  G Street, NW, between 7^th and 9^th Streets, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
•   8^th Street, NW, between G and H Streets, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
•  H Street, NW, between 8^th and 6^th Streets, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
•    6^th Street, NW, between Massachusetts Avenue and G Street, NW (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)

All street closures are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
