Traffic Advisory: Street Closures for Triathlon - Advisories

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and event organizers have provided the following information about road closures for the Dextro Energy Triathlon scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2009. There will be numerous streets impacted around the National Mall and motorists are advised there could be traffic delays associated with this event. There will also be parking restrictions along the race course and motorists should look for emergency “no parking” signs.

In addition, the US Park Police have provided the following information about additional road closures on Sunday for the Triathlon. These road closures will be in effect from 4 am to 2 pm, although in some cases these are rolling closures and streets may be reopened earlier than anticipated:

· Rock Creek Parkway from Virginia Ave to Parkway Drive

· Parkway Drive from Rock Creek Parkway to Lincoln Memorial Circle

· Independence Avenue, SW from 15^th Street to 23^rd Street

· Constitution Avenue, NW from 15^th Street to 23^rd Street

· West Potomac Park from Inlet Bridge to 23^rd Street, to include West Basin Drive

· Maine Avenue from SE Freeway to Independence Avenue

· 15^th Street from Maine Avenue to Constitution Avenue

· 17^th Street from Independence Avenue to Constitution Avenue

· Jefferson Drive from 15^th Street to 3^rd Street

· Madison Drive from 15^th Street to 3^rd Street

· Daniel French Drive

· Henry Bacon Drive

· Holocaust Museum alley between 14^th and 15^th Street

· Bureau of Engraving and Printing alley between 14^th and 15^th Streets

· East Basin Drive @ ramp to 14^th Street Bridge (2100-2145)
