Traffic Advisory: 2010 Boy Scouts of America Grand Centennial Parade

The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public of street and parking restrictions in conjunction with the 2010 Boy Scouts of America Grand Centennial PARADE. The event will take place on July 25, 2010, along Constitution Avenue, NW. The parade is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm and end at approximately 4:00 pm. Streets along the parade route will be closed until the conclusion of this event. The specific details surrounding the events are listed below.

 

PARADE ROUTE

The parade will begin at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, proceed along Constitution Avenue before ending at 18th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW. The parade will proceed northbound along Virginia Avenue, NW, into the dispersal area.

 

STREET CLOSURES

Streets along the parade route will be closed to traffic beginning at approximately 12:45 pm on the day of the event until its completion. 7th Street, NW between Constitution Avenue, NW, and Independence Avenue, SW, will be closed to traffic beginning at 6:00 am on the day of the event.

 

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

There will be no parking on the day of the event along the parade route on Constitution Avenue, NW, between 7th and 23rd Streets, NW. There will also be no parking on Virginia Avenue, NW between Constitution Avenue, NW, and 23rd Streets, NW. These restrictions will be in effect beginning at approximately 6:00 am until 5:00 pm.

 

Motorist may experience delays if they are traveling in the area of these events. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation would also request that motorists use extreme caution when traveling in the Downtown area this weekend as pedestrian traffic could be heavy. All closures are subject to unanticipated changes.
