The Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District will host a life skills community youth camp. This camp is being operated in partnership with the Eastland Gardens Civic Association, Sixth District Citizens Advisory Council, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, Marshall Heights Community and DC Councilmember Vincent Gray (Ward 7).
The purpose of the camp is to teach children in the area important life skills such as job training, banking and conflict resolution among other skills. In addition to skills training there will be other sponsored activities such as movie night, bowling and double Dutch competitions. Participants in the camp are also scheduled to attend Washington National Baseball games as well as Washington Mystics Basketball games.
There will be an open house on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 3 pm at the listed location. The news media is invited.
