Thirty-Two Demonstrators Arrested

On Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a group of demonstrators began to assemble in the vicinity of 19th and L Streets, NW. Eventually, some of the protestors blocked the roadway at that intersection. Members of the Metropolitan Police Department began to arrest the demonstrators at about 8:45 a.m. The roadway was reopened to vehicular traffic at 9:00 a.m.

A total of thirty-two people were arrested, seventeen males and fifteen females. They have been charged with Failure to Obey Lawful Order of a Police Officer, which carries a $100.00 fine. The violators are currently being processed.
