McGruff Comes to Washington, D.C. to Celebrate Birthday
Event Will Focus on Success and Future of Local Crime Prevention Activities

As part of a 20-community national tour to celebrate his 20th birthday, McGruff, the Crime Dog ®, well known for urging adults and children to "Take a Bite Out of Crime," will join local officials Thursday for a celebration to highlight the community's crime prevention efforts. The tour is being sponsored by ADT Security Services, Inc. Washington's successful crime prevention efforts, including Neighborhood Watch, D.A.R.E. youth anti-drug program, Senior Citizens University safety seminars, and citizen/community patrol groups, have helped keep crime rates low in the area. City officials, law enforcement officers, and civic and community leaders will detail McGruff's impact on crime prevention in Washington, D.C., discuss the success of recent initiatives, and provide a look ahead with upcoming plans for crime prevention in the area.
