Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2000, members of the Fifth District Focus Mission Team executed a search warrant at 514 12th Street, NE. The search warrant came as the result of an investigation mounted in response to citizen complaints of drug activity.

The search of the premises resulted in the seizure of a quantity of heroin, over $6,400 in U.S. currency; four handguns and assorted ammunition; and an assortment of electronic equipment. Additionally, 80-year-old Dorsey Battle, who resides at the 12th Street address, was arrested for firearms violations.

Mr. Battle has been charged with carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of unregistered firearms and unregistered ammunition. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in D.C. Superior Court.
