Shortly
before 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2000, police and DCFD
emergency medical personnel were summoned to a dorm room at Gallaudet
University's Cogswell Plaza , located at 800 Florida Avenue, NE, for
the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located a student
suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries to the head. Emergency
medical personnel could find no life signs.
The decedent, who has been identified as 19-year-old Eric Franklin
Plunkett, was later transported by morgue wagon to D.C. General Hospital
where he was officially pronounced dead. The remains were then taken to
the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy will be performed
to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the
department's Fifth

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR
REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed
in the District of Columbia.
Update:
The medical examiner's office has ruled the death a homicide. Anyone with
