At approximately 2:23 am, on Thursday, January 12, 2006, Seventh District officers on directed patrol came upon a van that had struck another vehicle in the 800 block of Barnaby Street, SE. Upon further investigation, officers discovered an adult male sitting in the driver’s seat of the van and suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The victim, identified as 46-year-old Willie Demonia, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was subsequently transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit, where he was pronounced dead at 5:10 am.
Metropolitan Police closed this homicide on Monday, December 11, 2006, with the arrest of 26-year-old Amos Chaney, of the 6600 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. He was charged with Murder Two While Armed.
