MPDC Offers Youth Events during Winter Break

The Metropolitan Police Department's Third District, in conjunction with several community organizations, is sponsoring a series of youth-related events during the winter holiday break.  Among the cooperating community partners are the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative, the Northwest Weed and Seed Project and DC Idol Hands.

 

The events listed below are aimed at giving young people safe and viable alternatives during the holiday break.

 

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

  • Winter Swimming, 11 am-5:30 pm
    Rolling Crest Chillum Splash Pool, 6120 Sargent Road, Hyattsville, Maryland
    Transportation provided from Third District Substation, 750 Park Road, NW

Wednesday, December 27, 2006

  • Treasure “Cutz," 9-10 am and 6-8 pm
    Five Barber Shops located in Wards One and Four
    Haircut vouchers  available at the Third District Substation ( 750 Park Road, NW), Fourth District Station ( 6001 Georgia Avenue, NW) and Latino Liaison Unit (1800 Columbia Road, NW)
    Youth will receive haircuts and participate in a scavenger hunt

Thursday, December 28, 2006

  • “Ol Skool Game Night," 4:30-8 pm
    Third District Substation, 750 Park Road, NW
    Youth will participate in games such as Win, Lose or Draw, Name that Tune, Checkers, Uno and Cards 

Friday, December 29, 2006

  • Ice Skating, 11 am-4 pm
    Fort Dupont Park Ice Rink, 3779 Ely Place, SE

Saturday, December 30, 2006

  • Indoor Drive-In, 4-8 pm
    New Commandment Baptist Church, 625 Park Road, NW
    Movies will be shown to those in attendance
