At approximately 12:54 am, on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, Metropolitan Police were called to the 900 block of Crittenden Street, NW, to investigate the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the 1200 block of Crittenden Street, NW, which had apparently crashed into several parked cars. Inside of the vehicle, officers located one male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest and a second male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the arm.
The first victim, who has been identified as 31-year-old Raymond Rich, of the 6200 block of North Dakota Avenue, NW, was transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead. The second victim, a 17-year-old male from Northwest DC, was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and released. His name is being withheld because he is a witness in this case.
The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
