On Saturday, January 13, 2007, at approximately 5:18 pm, an adult male was shot multiple times while in the 1200 block of 18th Street, NE. The victim, whose identity is being withheld because he is a witness in the case, was transported to an area hospital and admitted for treatment.
As the result of the investigation into this shooting, at approximately 1:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2007, detectives assigned to the department’s Fifth District, with the assistance of members of the United States Marshals Service, arrested a suspect in this case. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Iran Murchinson, of the 1700 block of Lyman Place, NE, was arrested in the 18000 block of Sage Way in Germantown, Maryland.
Murchinson was being sought on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with Assault With Intent to Kill (AWIK) in connection with the January 13th shooting. He has been booked and is scheduled to be arraigned in D.C. Superior Court on Saturday, January 27, 2007.
The investigation being conducted by Fifth District detectives is ongoing.
