At approximately 10:34 pm, on Saturday, January 27, 2007, Metropolitan Police were called to an apartment building located in the 1500 block of 7th Street, NW, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers located 29-year-old Deon A. Peoples, of the 1400 block of V Street, NW, lying in the stairwell of that location, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Personnel from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
