At approximately 7:37 pm, on Saturday, February 10, 2007, a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV being operated by a 45-year-old man from Clarksville, Maryland was traveling eastbound in the 1100 block of New York Avenue, NE, when his vehicle struck an unidentified adult hispanic male crossing the roadway. The victim, who was not in a crosswalk, was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead at 10:05 pm.

No charges have been filed in this case, which remains under investigation by members of the department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit; however, at this time it appears to be a pedestrian violation.
