At approximately 11:10 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2007, 21-year-old Angel C. Walters, of the 1300 block of Congress Street, SE, had exited a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Congress Street, SE, and began to cross the street. She was reportedly not in the crosswalk.  It was at this time that she was struck by a Metro bus traveling in a northeasterly direction, driven by 38-year-old Brenton Fairmont of Fort Washington, Maryland.

Ms. Walters was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead at 11:49 pm. 

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit.
