At approximately 10:15 last night, Sunday, February 19, 2007, police were called to the 900 block of Blakney Lane, SE, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival police located 16-year-old Van Young, of the 4300 block of 3rd Street, SE, seated inside a 2005 Toyota Camry, parked in front of 929 Blakney Lane, SE.  He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead at 10:56 pm.

The above case was closed on Saturday, February 24, 2007, with the arrest of 18-year-old Samuel Carter, of the 4200 block of 4th Street, SE. He was charged with Murder Two While Armed.
