Police Investigate Death at 2nd Street and Hawaii Avenue, NE

At approximately 4:50 pm, on Monday, March 12, 2007, officers responded to the 300 block of Hawaii Avenue, NE, for the report of a male subject who may have placed a bag containing a possible human skull in a dumpster. Upon arrival officers located the bag in an area of bushes and contacted members from the department’s Violent Crimes Branch to respond. 

Today, Tuesday, March 13, 2007, a subsequent investigation was conducted by personnel from the Violent Crimes Branch in the area where the possible remains were found yesterday. Utilizing the assistance of a cadaver dog from the Metropolitan Police Department, additional apparent skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area near   2nd Street and Hawaii Avenue, NE, at approximately 11 am.

All of the discovered remains have been transported to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner where a further examination will be conducted. This case remains under investigation by members from the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
