At approximately 4:54 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2006, police were called to a residence located in the 3000 block of Clinton Street, NE, for the report of a man down. Upon arrival officers located 89-year-old Howard Brown, of the Clinton Street address, suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries to the body. He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and admitted in serious condition.
He was later transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he subsequently died on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, as a result of his injuries.
Today, March 29, 2007, the Office of DC Medical Examiner, ruled the cause of death due to blunt force trauma and the manner of death a homicide.
The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
Update, 3/29/07
On Thursday, March 29, 2007, the above case was closed with the arrest of the victim's grandson, 48-year-old Martin Brown of the Clinton Street Address. He was charged with Murder II.
