Multiple Shooting Incident In NE

On Thursday, November 23, 2000, at approximately 4:26 p.m., police and DCFD emergency medical technicians responded to the 700 block of 58th Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located four males suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, identified as 20-year-old Chason Haynnie, of the 1400 block of Nova Avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland, was transported to Prince George's County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m. The other three victims were treated at area hospitals for apparently non-life-threatening injuries. Only one of the three survivors was admitted.

Investigation into the incident reveals that the victims received their wounds when the occupant(s) of a dark colored motor vehicle, possibly a sport utility vehicle, opened fire on their auto, which was travelling northbound in the 700 block of 58th Street, stopped at a traffic signal light. The suspect vehicle sped away immediately following the shooting.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department's Sixth District . Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call detectives at 202-727-4515 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777 .

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
