Suspect Sought for Attacks in Capitol Hill Area

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance to help identify and locate a suspect believed to be responsible for two assaults with a sharp object.  In each case, the suspect is described as a black male in his late twenties, six feet in height, wearing blue jeans and a red jacket with black sleeves.  He appears to be disoriented and has been observed talking to himself.

The first offense occurred in the vicinity of 7th and E Streets, SE at about 6:45 am on Friday, March 30, 2007.  A male complainant was walking near the Washington Navy Yard when he observed a male dancing in the street.  He walked by the dancer and then felt pain in his neck and back.  The victim then realized that he’d been stabbed three times by the suspect.  The injuries the victim sustained in this unprovoked attack were not life threatening.

The second unprovoked attack occurred in the 100 block of D Street, SE at about 8:45 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2007.  A female victim was walking along when she felt a pain in her back.  She observed the suspect walk away and then realized she had been stabbed in her back.  Her injury was not life threatening.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or the department’s Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.  However, anyone who sees a subject matching the suspect’s description should take no direct action, but should avoid the subject and alert police to the suspect’s whereabouts immediately by calling 911.

All calls to Crime Solvers are confidential.  If a caller provides information through Crime Solvers that leads to an arrest and indictment, he/she will be eligible for a reward of up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
