Homicide at 253 V Street, NW

At approximately 2:00 this morning, Thursday, April 5, 2007, police were called to an apartment building located at 253 V Street, N.W., for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival officers located a 31-year-old District male in a stairwell suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but could find no signs consistent with life. The victim was subsequently transported to the DC Medical Examiner’s Office and pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending the notification of his next of kin.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
