Two Arrests Made in July 2006 Double Homicide in Southeast

At approximately 9:10 am, on Monday, July 24, 2006, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District were called to the 4700 block of Alabama Avenue, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two shooting victims at that location. The first victim, a 17-year-old male found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to an area hospital and admitted in grave condition. The victim, identified as Ronnie Garner, of the 300 block of 34th Street, SE, was pronounced dead at 10:30 pm.

The second victim, identified as 22-year-old Terrell Jones, of the 1400 block of Upus Avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was subsequently transported to the Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:46 am.

This case was closed on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 with the arrests of 19-year-old Sabir Lynch, of the 600 block of Hamlin Street, NE, and 22-year-old Erica Holland, of the 2400 block of Elvans Road, SE.  Both have been charged with two counts of Murder I while Armed and are scheduled to be arraigned in D.C. Superior Court.
