Suspect Sought in March Shooting on Georgia Avenue, NW -- Update: Suspect Captured on 4/19/07

At approximately 10:15 on the morning of Monday, March 26, 2007, an adult male was shopping inside the Amanuel Market located at 3661 Georgia Avenue, NW. It was at this time that he was approached by a lone male who produced a handgun and shot him in the face. The victim was taken to an area hospital and survived his injury. His name is being withheld because he is a witness.

The store surveillance camera captured the incident and an MPD CCTV camera located at Georgia and New Hampshire Avenues, NW, captured the alleged gunman standing near his vehicle. The car was later found abandoned. Various local television stations were helpful and aired some of the footage from the surveillance camera and from the MPD CCTV camera. As a result, investigators received a number of calls identifying the alleged gunman and a warrant, charging Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed, was obtained by the Violent Crimes Branch.

Police are now seeking the public’s assistance to help locate Bruce E. Marshall.  He is described as a 22-year-old black male, medium complexion, 6’4” tall, 270 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He should be considered Armed and Dangerous.  Anyone with information as to his whereabouts or sees him should take no direct action but call police at (202) 727-9099.
