Fatal Shooting At Sherman and Columbia Roads, NW

At approximately 3:20 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2000, officers from the Fourth District were called for the report of a shooting at the bus stop located at the intersection of Sherman and Columbia Roads, NW. On arrival, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body. He was transported to Howard University Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim is identified as 29-year-old Raymond Haynes of an unknown address. An argument with a suspect only described as a black male apparently resulted in the fatal shooting of Mr. Haynes. The suspect left the scene on foot.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives of the Fourth District .

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department's Fourth District Detectives Office at 202-576-6726 or the Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777 . All calls to the Crime Solvers Unit are confidential and a caller need not give his/her name. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
