30 Trees To Be Planted Friday at Seventh District in Honor of Fallen Officers
Grant from Casey Trees Foundation Makes Beautification Project Possible

Spring 2007 marked the beginning of the Casey Trees Foundation's Planting Program. The program provides District residents and organizations with trees, tools, and technical support for projects they identify and develop in their communities.

MPD 7D was one of the projects selected by Casey Trees for the spring of 2007. We will be planting 30 trees that will be dedicated to fallen officers that served in the Seventh District. In addition, we will be planting flowers around the station. Over 50 students from Garfield and Stanton Elementary Schools will assist with the flower planting.

The planting will take place on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 7D, 2455 Alabama Avenue, SE. MPD 7D officers and staff, community and civic leaders as well as residents will assist us with this planting. Each student and adult volunteer will be given a Certificate of Appreciation for their work.

For more details on the planting, please see the Casey Trees website. Interested participants may volunteer online to or call Lendia Johnson at (202) 698-1454.
