At approximately 12:59 am, on Sunday, April 29, 2007, police were called to the 700 block of Congress Street, S.E. for the report of sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival police located a 26-year-old District male in the rear of 3500 7th Street, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but found no signs consistent with life. The decedent was transported to the D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office and pronounced dead.
The decedent’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The case is under investigation by members of the departments Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
