Death Investigations

On Monday, April 30, 2007, at approximately 4:40 am, police responded to an apartment building located at 2825 Jasper Street, SE where they located the body of an adult female suffering from apparent stab wounds.  The victim, identified as 24-year-old Nakia Cunningham, of the Jasper Street address, was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where she was officially pronounced dead. 

 

Later that day shortly after 9:00 am, police were called to the rear of 5300 Blaine Street, NE where they found the body of a male suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound lying on the grounds of the Arts and Technology Public Charter School.  The decedent, identified as 33-year-old James Henry Campbell, with a last known address in the 100 block of 53rd Street, SE, also was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where he was officially pronounced dead.

 

At this time detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch are investigating this case as a possible murder/suicide.
