At approximately 10 pm, on April 30, 2007, police were called to the 3900 block of Clay Street, NW, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 27-year-old Jahru Gathers, of the 100 block of P Street, SW, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to the Prince George’s County Medical Center and admitted in critical condition.
On Saturday, June 2, 2007, Jahru Gathers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:44 am.
The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
