Homicide in the 2300 Block of Pitts Place, SE

At approximately 1:09 am, on Saturday, June 2, 2007, police were called to the 2300 block of Pitts Place, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 26-year-old Reynard Lewis, of the 1600 block of 29th Street, SE, behind the wheel of a car, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. He was taken to the DC Medical Examiner’s Office and pronounced dead.

A 43-year-old female was also located in the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg. She was taken to an area hospital. The identity of this victim is being withheld because she is considered a witness in this case.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
