Body Found Near Fairlawn Avenue, SE

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2000, the body of an unidentified male, believed to be that of a 14-year-old missing person, was discovered next to the railroad tracks located in the 1500 block of Fairlawn Avenue, SE.

The unidentified remains were transported to the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy was conducted to confirm the identity of the victim, the cause and the manner of death.

The victim has been identified as 14-year-old Jerod L. Jackson of the 3500 block of 22nd Street, SE. The Medical Examiner's report indicates that Jerod Jackson sustained two gunshot wounds to the head.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives of the Seventh District . Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call detectives at 202-698-1276 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information, which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide, committed in the District of Columbia.
