On the night of Tuesday, January 16, 2001, police responded to the area of the 5000 block of Bass Place, SE to investigate the sound of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound lying alongside of 5205 Bass Place. DCFD emergency medical technicians were then summoned to the scene.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to D.C. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
