At approximately 2:33 this morning, Friday, June 29, 2007, two men reportedly became involved in an altercation while inside Steak and Egg restaurant located at 1938 9th Street, NW. It was at this time that one of the men allegedly produced a handgun and shot the other man in the chest before fleeing. The injured man exited the restaurant and collapsed on the sidewalk. He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead.
The decedent is an unidentified adult black male. The suspect in this case is described as a black male in his twenties, slim build with dreadlocks.
The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
