Homicide in Front of 3512 Stanton Road, SE

At approximately 11:39 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2007, 24-year-old Tiara Monique Merriweather, of the 700 block of Upsal Street, SE, was shot in the head while with friends in front of 3512 Stanton Road, SE. She was taken, by a private vehicle, to the Greater Southeast Community Hospital and pronounced dead.

 

The ongoing investigation indicates that one or two males approached a group standing in the 3500 block of Stanton Road, SE.  It was at this time that one or both males produced handguns and fired at the group.  It appears that a person or persons in the group returned fire.  During the exchange of gunfire, Ms. Merriweather was struck in the head.

 

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

 

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
