Arrest Made in July 2005 Fatal Shooting on Alabama Avenue, SE

On Sunday, July 3, 2005, at approximately 4:14 am, police and DCFD emergency medical personnel responded to the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the body lying beside a motor vehicle.

Reportedly, an occupant of another auto shot the victim as he sat behind the wheel of an automobile that was stopped in the 1900 block of Alabama Avenue.  As a result, the victim put the auto in reverse and backed into a utility pole, knocking it to the ground, and then struck a residence located at 1858 Alabama Avenue, SE, causing damage to the house.

Immediately following the shooting, the suspect vehicle, described only as a dark colored late model automobile, possibly a Toyota Camry or Corolla, fled from the scene southbound on Alabama Avenue, SE.

The victim, who has been identified as 18-year-old Theordre Durbin, of the 3700 block of Curtis Drive in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, was transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedSTAR Unit where he was pronounced dead at 4:41 am.

The above case was closed on Saturday, June 30, 2007, with the arrest of 20-year-old Terrene Lee of the 4900 block of Manor Drive in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He was charged with Murder One while Armed.
