At approximately 4:45 this morning, Tuesday, July 24, 2007, a lone male entered a private residence located in the 900 block of P Street, NW.  Once inside he reportedly sexually assaulted an adult female before taking cash from her purse and fleeing.  She was taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect in this case is described as a black male approximately 5’10” tall, slender build and spoke with an accent.  He was last seen wearing dark colored work pants, grey turtle neck shirt and a pair of work boots.  The suspect indicated that he was armed with a gun.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Sex Offense Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or the department’s Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.  All calls to Crime Solvers are confidential.  If a caller provides information through Crime Solvers that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case, he/she will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
