Drug Raids in the Fourth District - Releases - Metropolitan Police Department

At approximately 3:00 this morning, Thursday, July 26, 2007, members of the department’s Fourth District’s Vice Unit, assisted by members of the First, Third, Fifth and Seventh District’s Vice Units, executed arrest and search warrants as part of ongoing investigation. The investigation was initiated based on information provided by concerned citizens within the Fourth District.

The warrants were executed at two apartment buildings in the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, two row houses in the 800 block of Butternut Street, NW, a row house in the 500 block of Butternut Street, NW and a row house in the 700 block of Highland Avenue, NW. As a result of the operation 11 individuals were arrested, seven firearms, two bullet-proof vests, four vehicles and a small amount of drugs were seized. The investigation is continuing and additional suspects are being sought.

Arrested and charged with violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act/Distribution of Cocaine were:

41-year-old Rahen Ardel Wilson of the 6700 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.,
43-year-old Julian Barnes of the 700 block of Highland Avenue, N.W.,
43-year-old Teresa A Harvey of the 700 block of Highland Avenue, N.W.,
44-year-old Benny L. Ragland of the 800 block of Butternut Street, N.W.,
27-year-old Aaron C. Charles of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.,
48-year-old Jimmy L. Grimes of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.,
58-year-old Elmer Morgan of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W., and
49-year-old George B. Seaborn of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.

Arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry on Property were:

49-year-old Darrell K. Carter of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.,
42-year-old Carlton C. Hughes of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W. and
41-year-old Percell Wilkins of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, N.W.

Update, 7/28/07

It has been determined that the defendant who initially identified himself as Craig C. Hughes used another person’s name. In actuality, he is 42-year-old Carlton C. Hughes, of the 6800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. The news release has been updated to reflect this correction.
