At approximately 1:05 this afternoon, Monday, August 20, 2007, a lone male subject entered the PNC Bank located in the 1300 block of 4th Street, NE. Upon entering the bank the subject reportedly produced a threatening note demanding money and subsequently obtained an undetermined amount of cash before making good his escape on foot.
A look-out was broadcast for the subject who was subsequently apprehended without incident by members from the department’s Fifth District Focus Mission Team in the vicinity of the bank where cash was recovered as well.
The suspect in this case has been identified as 35-year-old Nathanial Ames of no fixed address. He has been charged with Robbery Fear in connection with the above offense and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
