At approximately 9:00 on the morning of Saturday, February 24, 2001, 38-year-old Marvin R. Norman, of 2318 Nicholson Street, S.E., entered police headquarters located at 300 Indiana Avenue, N.W. Once inside, he approached an officer and asked to speak with a detective about an incident involving him and a female acquaintance. Sixth District officers were then sent to a rooming house at the Nicholson Street address and located the body of 25-year-old Andrianne Gilford, of the same address, unconscious in a closet. She was taken to D.C. General Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m. Her cause of death will be determined pending an autopsy.

Marvin Norman was charged with Murder II in connection with the death. He will be arraigned today in D.C. Superior Court.
