At approximately 4:08 pm on Sunday, August 26, 2007, police were called to the 2500 block of Savannah Street, S.E. for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located 31-year-old Steven Beynum, of the 2500 block of Savannah Street, SE, suffering from a gunshot wound to the body.  He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch.

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
