At
approximately 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2001, officers of the
Seventh District responded to the 700 block of Barnaby Street, SE to investigate
the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered three (3) individuals
in the hallway of 750 Barnaby Street, SE suffering from apparent gunshot
wounds.
One of the victims has been identified as 25-year-old Emmanuel Melver
of the 1000 block of 17th Place, NE. Mr. Melver was transported to D.C.
General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m. The second
victim has been identified as 28-year-old Nennon Short of the 1600
block of C Street, NE. Mr. Short was transported to the Office
of the Chief Medical Examiner where he was pronounced dead at 11:05
p.m.
The third victim sustained a non-life-threatening wound. Her name is being
withheld at this time due to the fact that she is a witness in the case.
She was treated at an area hospital.
The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the

REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed
in the District of Columbia.
