Juvenile Arrested in Homicide at 8th and R Streets, NW

At approximately 3:00 on the morning of Sunday, September 2, 2007, police were called to 8th and R Streets, NW, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located 16-year-old Airrion Johnson, of the 3200 block of Collins Street in Clinton, Maryland, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body.  He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead.

A subsequent investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch determined that the shooting occurred in a first floor apartment in the 800 block of R Street, NW.  The investigation led detectives to charge a 15-year-old juvenile female with Murder One While Armed in connection with the shooting.  On Monday, September 3, 2007, an individual alleged to have brought the gun into the apartment surrendered himself to police and was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Obstruction of Justice and as an Accessory After the Fact.  He is identified as 19-year-old David Williams of the 1200 block of 11th Street, NW.  The name of the 15-year-old female must be withheld because she is a juvenile.
