Arrest Made in Prout Street Murder Case

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch arrested 24-year-old Gregory Napper, of the 2200 block of Prout Street, SE.  He has been charged with First Degree Murder While Armed in connection with the murder of Marvin L. Carter.    

At approximately 6:18 on the night of Saturday, September 8, 2007, police were called to the 2200 block of Prout Street, SE, for the report of a vehicle crashing into a parked car.  Upon arrival they located 23-year-old Marvin L. Carter, of the 1400 block of Spring Road, NW, behind the wheel of a car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but found no signs consistent with life.  He was taken to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

The investigation that was conducted by Violent Crimes Branch detectives resulted in the arrest of the suspect in this case.
