Fatal Shooting on Elvans Road, SE

At approximately 12:23 on the afternoon of Monday, March 29, 1999, police officers on routine patrol in the area of the 2500 block of Elvans Road, SE were flagged down by a citizen and advised that a shooting victim was nearby. The citizen directed them to the front of 2547 Elvans Road where they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk. DCFD emergency medical technicians were then summoned to the scene.

The victim, who has been identified as 16-year-old Marcus Owens, of the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, SE, was transported to D.C. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:49 pm.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division. Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call the department's homicide division at 202-727-4347 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.
