Arrest Made in Murder for Hire Case

Last week members of the department received information indicating that a subject was allegedly arranging to have a male acquaintance murdered.

Members of the department’s Intelligence Section launched an investigation and arranged for an undercover officer to meet with the subject to reportedly discuss obtaining a gun to be used in the alleged plot.  As a result of the investigation a warrant charging Solicitation for Murder was issued for 44-year-old Erik Collins, last known address the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.

At approximately 3 pm on Friday, September 28, 2007, members of the Montgomery County Police Department arrested Erik Collins, without incident, in the 900 block of Thayer Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.  He is pending extradition back to the District of Columbia.
