Arrest Made in Shooting in Front of 1747 Columbia Road, NW

On Monday, October 1, 2007, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, made up of members of the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 34-year-old Raina Johnson of the 1600 block of 18th Street, SE, without incident in the 100 block of 19th Street, SE. She has been charged with Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed.

At approximately 12:15 on the morning of Tuesday, September 26, 2007, a 31-year-old female standing in front of the Safeway supermarket was approached by another female who allegedly shot her in the neck before fleeing. The victim was taken to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. Her name is being withheld due to the fact that she is a witness in this case.

A subsequent investigation conducted by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch led to the issuance of the arrest warrant.
