Decedent Identified in Pomeroy Road Case

The Metropolitan Police Department has identified the person found on October 3, 2007 in the 2300-hundred block of Pomeroy Road, SE. The woman is identified at 21-year-old Charmine Owens. Authorities were able to identify Ms. Owens after the Department released a picture of a bracelet worn by Ms. Owens.

Ms. Owens, of no fixed address, was found last Wednesday at approximately 9:54 am in the rear of Wilkerson Elementary School, located at 2330 Pomeroy Road, SE. Upon arrival, authorities found Ms. Owens unconscious. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. She was pronounced dead on the scene by a member of the DC Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner of her death are pending the findings of the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The case is under investigation by members of the Department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
